Auto Electrician

Cavanaghs Transport is an industry leading livestock carrier, with depot's based in Tamworth, Dubbo, Wagga Wagga and Inverell NSW. Our fleet consists of 23 prime mover and trailer combinations which are maintained to the highest standards and updated on a regular basis. We are currently seeking an Auto Electrician to join our team.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical systems on Kenworth prime movers, Icepack refrigeration units, and Byrne trailers
- Carry out basic servicing of heavy vehicles and trailers as part of scheduled maintenance
- Install and service vehicle electrical components including wiring looms, lighting, batteries, alternators, starter motors, and auxiliary equipment
- Fault-find and repair electrical faults on refrigerated trailer units (Icepack) and associated control systems
- Fault-find and repair on-board diagnostic and electronic control systems on Kenworth prime movers
- Carry out scheduled electrical maintenance and inspections in line with heavy vehicle compliance standards
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical manuals specific to Kenworth, Icepack, and Byrne equipment
- Maintain accurate job and service records
- Ensure all work complies with WHS and relevant Australian vehicle standards
Qualifications & Experience
- Trade qualification as an Auto Electrician (Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology or equivalent)
- Previous experience working on heavy/commercial vehicles required; experience with Kenworth prime movers, Icepack refrigeration units, or Byrne trailers highly regarded
- Sound knowledge of 12V/24V electrical systems
- Competence in carrying out basic servicing of heavy vehicles
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Current driver's licence
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills
